sob

"the courses meander along the Pacific Crest Trail with breathtaking views of Mt. Shasta, Mt. McLoughlin , and the Siskiyou and Cascade mountain ranges". Sounds like an entry from a tourist magazine, luring one to a beautiful hike with a view. This is actually from the description of the Siskiyou Outback Ultramarathon, better known as SOB for a good reason. The 50K run(thats 32 miles in American) starts at an altitude of 6,500 feet with the total course elevation gain of approximately 4,200 ft. 156 brave souls completed this course, including Darrin, Nikki, Eric and Dave. Stephanie, John, and Vera were at the finish to cheer them on with cow bells. Darrin finished in an impressive 05:24:41, suffering a huge blister and a purple toe. Eric completed the race after running against doctors wishes after several days of clear liquid diet for a diverticulitis flare. Nikki had been suffering a calf injury which had prevented her from running last month in Granite Man, but grinned and beared it to finish this race, limped across the finish line.
